Some days we jump from one task to another without touching the mouse much. We review pending work, change priorities and move on. Small gestures can make this routine more comfortable.
That's why Mopux includes keyboard shortcuts for moving through project tasks and updating some of their details directly from the board.
The point isn't to work faster at any cost. It's to reduce interruptions when you already know what you want to do.
Navigate tasks with the keyboard
Once the selection is on the board, use the arrow keys to move through tasks and groups:
- ↑ and ↓: move between tasks in the same group.
- ← and →: move from one task group to another.
- Enter: open the selected task to view or change its details.
This is useful when reviewing several tasks in succession. You can move across the board and stop only at the items that need attention.
Change priority without opening every task
Not all tasks are equally important. Some need attention soon; others can wait without blocking the project.
With a task selected, use these shortcuts to set its priority:
- Ctrl + 1: maximum priority.
- Ctrl + 2: high priority.
- Ctrl + 3: normal priority.
- Ctrl + 4: low priority.
If you spot an urgent task during a review, you can give it high or maximum priority without breaking your flow. Priorities should help the team focus, not make everything urgent.
Update a task's status
Status shows what is pending, what is underway and what needs reviewing. Keeping it current gives the rest of the team a reliable picture.
You can also update it from the keyboard:
- Alt + 1: pending.
- Alt + 2: in progress.
- Alt + 3: in review.
- Alt + 4: completed.
When you finish a task or hand it over for review, update its status and move straight to the next one.
An example: checking the board at the start of the day
Imagine starting your day reviewing tasks for a website project. Use the arrow keys to go through pending work. You find an issue that needs fixing today and press Ctrl + 2 to give it high priority. Next, select a task you've already started and press Alt + 2 to mark it in progress.
Later, press Enter to open a task, read the comments and get the context before continuing. These small actions are valuable when they become part of a routine.
Start with the shortcuts you use most
You don't need to learn them all on day one. Start with the arrow keys and Enter, add status changes later, then use priority shortcuts when needed.
If you're typing in a text field or using other operating-system key combinations, check how the shortcuts behave in your browser and on your device. The tool should fit the way you work.
Fewer repeated gestures, greater clarity
At Mopux, we keep improving the small details that make everyday work easier. Keyboard navigation offers another way to move between tasks, update priorities and keep the board current.
Improving the work experience doesn't always require big features. Sometimes it means making repeated actions easier.
Try the shortcuts on your next project and keep the ones that genuinely help.
